Elements Facebook Project

Eighth grade science students had the opportunity to integrate their interest in social networking and knowledge of elements on the period table to create a "Fake"book page.  Mrs. Webster, science teacher, collaborated with Mrs. Smith, librarian, to design a creative research project that integrated science curriculum, information literacy and technology skills.

The objective of the project was to have students use the research process (Big 6) to learn about the elements on the period table, their atomic structure, properties, and formation of compounds (chemical reactivity). Students were required to create an element's Facebook profile using a power-point template or design a poster that included a Works Cited page. As you can see below students did a great job!
